Mama Needs Wine- Vol 4

Mama Needs Wine – Dinner Edition

Hubby and I have always loved enjoying a glass of wine with dinner. Perhaps it’s our restaurant and hospitality background, or just our love of experiencing good food and wine together; either way, much like salt, wine is a staple at our kitchen table.

Even before we had kids we envisioned dinner time as a quiet occasion for family bonding or to discuss our days and upcoming activities. While this is still our intention, we seem to have more dinner time disasters than quiet family bonding! Last week was particularly disastrous for mama…

Nudge to the Bottle

Let’s set the stage… I’m home alone with the kids as hubby is working. My daughter was tired from a busy day at daycare and decided not only did she not like what I made for dinner, but that dinner time = tantrum time and began scream-crying. This scream-crying scared the baby so he started crying as well. Now, I could have sent my daughter to her room to finish her tantrum there, but I had already used the words “you’re not leaving this table until you’re finished your dinner” and as a parent you NEVER go back on your word. So, mama needed wine!

I went to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of Kris Pinot Grigio, poured myself a beautiful cleansing glass and sat at the table enjoying dinner and wine while listening to the soundtrack of my life: ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

The Nitty Gritty

I’m not normally one for Pinot Grigio as I find them somewhat watery, lacking fruit character and acidity. But, the Kris Pinot Grigio is not your ordinary Grigio. It’s an intense expression of citrus fruits, honey, and apple. Coming from the region of Alto-Adige, the Kris Pinot Grigio is a fabulous mix of classic Italy for the modern palate. The winery combines modern technology with the tradition winemaking of Italy – seeing wine as Italian Art! This wine is playful, contemporary, and just plain delish.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation I highly recommend the Kris Pinot Grigio – not only did it pair perfectly with the high pitched screams of my children, but offered a refreshing and calming effect that was much needed… fueled my patience.

The Kris Pinot Grigio is a special order product – but with spring fast approaching, find a friend to share a case with. It can be ordered by the case at any SLGA store, or picked up at Willow Park Wines and Spirits in Harbour Landing by the bottle. ~$22
