Sunny Days: A Pop Up Shop

The first time Carey Shaw ever visited Cornelia Biegler’s house in 2014, she found it filled to the brim with beautiful kitting, macrame, and handmade modern decor. Always doing and making, Cornelia’s next project was to turn her garage into a studio for herself. But with Cornelia being a successful shop owner and entrepreneur, it only made sense to put the two projects together, and the idea of the pop up shop was created. Cornelia creating the handmade goods for the shop, and Carey running the events, photography and PR.

The garage was then remodeled using reclaimed furniture from Cornelia’s businesses. The small garage became a welcoming space, reminiscent of the easiness of California and the coziness of a hidden cottage.

From the first pop-up with just Cornelia’s handmade items, it has grown to showcase a collection of curated contemporary handmade products from local artists, photographers and designers. The pop-up weekends are filled with shopping, visits with new and old friends, and the encouragement to support our local makers. The event happens every few months in Regina, and this past year has traveled to Joshua Tree for a pop-up event in California.

The sixth pop-up on Dec 12 and 13, will be the biggest shop yet. Supporting eight artists in the shop, it will include ceramics, prints, knits, macrame, apothecary, and stationary. All handmade happiness.
